goodwater was launched in November, 2001 by John Goodwin and Roger Bywater.

The gallery is intended to function as a project room to showcase works by emerging and senior artists who work primarily in both project-based and idea-based formats. We work collaboratively with artists in determining the concept of the exhibition/project/edition. Our projects are aimed at expanding and challenging the current menu of artists’ presentations taking place in Toronto. Our programs are presented locally; however, we think and act internationally. Hence the group of artists we work with come from Toronto, New York, Copenhagen, Glasgow and London.

goodwater also publishes a number of editions and artist books which are listed on our website.

Since its founding, the gallery has also specialized in the resale of selected contemporary work by artists such as Joseph Beuys, Rodney Graham, Marcel Broodthaers and others. goodwater welcomes all private and professional inquiries. Consultations are available by appointment.
