i have been to all the best club spots in the world, ibiza, london, goa, miami, u name it! i can honestly say the guv is the best club in north america! if you're into the rave scene theres no better. they always have the best musical talent, people are extremely friendly and you always get your money's worth. however dont go if you're not prepared for an overwhelming amount of people, music, and atmosphere. the best part about the guv is that you can completely be your self and no one cares! so go to the guv lash out and enjoy yourself!

I absoultely LOVE guvernment. It's definitely not for everyone though. It's not a bar, or a club..in my opinion it's a rave..unless of course you choose to chill solely in the drink or gallery. I mean, its a certified venue and everything, but at the same time, it attracts some sketchy people and stuff. Nonetheless, I always feel safe there and always stick with my girlfreinds. I've met tons of people at guv..esp. in the summer, outside at skybar! The people are really friendly and some people are really talented dancers. The only thing that can get annoying is that sometimes it's overcapiciatated and people are up your ass..but that usually doesn't distract me from the kick-ass beats that pump through the speakers. I personally like gallery the best..it's got a nice dancefloor and a trendy lounge area with comfy couches and pillows where I usually chill when my legs are tired from hours of dancing. I'm a big people-watcher, so sitting on the couches is like a dance show for me. Koolhaus is usually only open for all-access events, and it's pretty sweet in there too. Main room (guv) can def get kinda sketchy but the beats in there(usually progressive-trancy) are pretty decent. Manzone and Strong, the rezident DJ's who play in the drink are spectacular and really get me movin. I prolly lose like 10 pounds every sat at guv haha. Make sure if you go, that you can tolerate sweaty bodies rubbin up against you and the occasional sketchbag. Be safe and have fun! I recommend this place. Was this review helpful? I would recommend this place to a friend if I think it's his/her type. It's not my taste at all. Big club, with 2 floors and a couple of giant rooms. Mostly hip hop on Fridays and progressive/trans/whatever it's called on saturdays. Prices are... well, they're not cheap, but they're not ridiculously expensive either. There are A LOT OF PEOPLE in there, I mean A LOT. Is it a nice club overall? Yes, if you're into clubbing and dancing to hip hop or trans/progressive. Is it a good place for drinking? No. Is it a good place for picking up people from the opposite sex?! Comparatively, definately not!

Great club, and the bouncers usually let people in fast, unlike most other clubs where they wait for you to "grease" aka pay da bounca. Since there are many rooms you can enter, so it fits all genre! I recommend this place. Was this review helpful? Yes | No | Report as Spam |

I love this club. It is absolutely massive. There are many rooms to choose from, each with their own vibe and music to suit your specific dancing needs. This creates for a very fun atmosphere. They also constantly bring in the hottest DJ's from around the world. The club is kind of out of the way from the rest of the clubs in downtown Toronto. The lineups can be pretty long. So make sure you're on the guestlist and have a girl especially if it's winter. This is THE club to go to if you want to experience the best Toronto has to offer for clubbing.

There are two reasons people go to the guvernment and one isn't legal so lets steer clear of that one. The Guvernment is an awesome place to party and meet friends. I met my wife there and I know of three other people who have met their life partners there. Fridays are mostly hip hop, saturdays are progressive downstairs and housy trance upstairs. Expect a fun crowd downstairs and a dressy "dont mess up my shirt/dress" crowd upstairs. mark oliver is by far one of the most layed back, but inspirational, DJs in north america. he has played private parties for Madonna, Lenny Cravitz and many other big name stars. Its always worth checking out at least once. The whole venue holds 6500 people on average. the Guvernment / Drink accounts for 2500 of that and on most saturdays you will find between 1500 and 2000 people there. Drinks are expensive, but hey its a bar in Toronto, expect nothing less. You will have a good time if you love to dance and meet people.
