In my entire life I never was humiliated as much as I was by the bouncers in Brass Rail. I came on a Friday night when the lounge was full. I stopped for a moment to look around and immediately heard a very rude voice: “You can’t stand here!” - it was a huge bald guy looking like a typical murderer from Hollywood movies. I found a seat and sat. I was waiting when one of the girls asks me if I want a dance. But before the waitress came and asked what I want to drink. I said: nothing, but she said that I have to order a drink. I never was in places where ordering drink is required and I said I don’t want to, and then she left. Then I realized that probably she is going to call one of those guys and decided to leave this bar and to find some more comfortable place. I came out of the bar but soon I changed my mind thinking that it is already late, I have paid $5 for parking, and actually, although their beers start from about $8 this could be considered as a cover price. So I came back but in the doors I was met by three bouncers who said that I have to get out. I said them I don’t mind to leave but I want to know why. But they did not tell me. Instead one of them who looked like Jaws started to push me out brassily with sadistic smile on his face. Continuing pushing me, (although I did not resist) he said with tongue-in-cheek politeness: Sir, please, leave my premises. I saw their number on the door and I called it. Perhaps it was the manager who took the phone, and I said that I just was kicked out and I want to know what for. He came out and explained that they did it because I did not want to order the drink. I felt so upset … I said I wanted to order the drink. He said that then I can come back. But I felt so bad that of course I could not enjoy anything that night. I just left. I was in strip clubs before in different countries, but nowhere I saw customers offended at all, not saying humiliated as badly as in this “upscale” downtown place.
