6 out of 7 people found this review helpful. PLEASE DO NOT GO TO City optical...they have the worst service ever. The staff are very rude and unhelpful, the owner or manager Bob Parr is very rude and unpleasant to be around...unprofessional and it seems like he does not manage his staff very well...A woman names Goldie works at 1 steeles ave east and she does not know what she is talking about when with a customer...dresses very unprofessional and the atmosphere is very cold inside...went in for some help and left within 10 minutes...PLEASE do not go to 1 steeles ave east city optical or any of the locations for that matter

7 out of 8 people found this review helpful. I am a doctor and like anyone else does not appreciate wasting their time and being called a liar. In brief I visited the Yonge/StClair store for prescription glasses. The clerk was only too happy to fudge the insurance numbers to make it "work" and I ordered a pair with clip on sunglasses. Upon picking up the new glasses a delay was required as a prescription (by the ophthalmologist) error dictated the lenses needed to be remade. Upon subsequently returning to pick-up the store adamantly insisted I had already taken the sunglasses clip-on, which I did not, and needed to purchase them again if I wanted them. Why on earth would I take sunglasses without glasses to clip them onto?? After realizing arguing would get me nowhere I took the head office's number to contact them. No response after multiple attempts. This short note is based on principle and should warn of the shoddy treatment of customers at this outlet and by head office. I am very disappointed. The only other matter I am more frustrated with is that I actually read this site and disregarded the warnings because the store is so close to home. Moral - spend more time/money and get what you pay for and NEVER go to City Optical.
I do not recommend this place.

11 out of 14 people found this review helpful. I've never experienced so disgusting customer service anywhere in Toronto:(
I had no choice, but City Optical, I had to use my free voucher from government and only this terrible place is granted to supply people on social assistance!
We came yearly in the rainy morning and were the only customers there. First they send us to the display with frames we can choose for free (75$ value). We were amazed what kind of cheap garbage it was. Then we start look for designer frames, we were told that we can choose any and pay 75$ less as per voucher. Sure choosing right frame takes some time to fit and see mirrors. After 10-15 min of trying and fitting with the salesperson, we were told to not forget about prices that all started from 250$ that they don't spend more than 30 min on each customer and so on. We were very upset and took just more or less usable frame from "cheap" spot. The problem with "free glasses" is that voucher is given only for 30days and option is single - city optical (why???). So I thought at least I can have new glasses with updated prescription. At the end they said very arrogant, that we have to pay for this frame 59$ more, because it doesn't have green dot!
Needless to say, I've lost my chance to get free glasses and I'm happy I didn't order anything at city optical. Stay away from it!

I do not recommend this place.
