EcoCleaners is home to Toronto's first non-toxic dry cleaning process. We are, to the best of our knowledge, the only dry cleaners in Toronto not to use perchloroethylene or petroleum hydrocarbon, solvents that are harmful to human health and the environment. Percholorethylene is a carcinogenic cleaning solvent used by close to 90% of the dry cleaning industry. Petroleum hydrocarbon, used by the other 10%, is a volatile organic compound and an insidious air pollutant. Both are proven to be harmful to human health.
Eco Cleaners uses the GreenEarth cleaning system. The genius of GreenEarth technology is that it uses silicone dioxide (liquid sand). Tiny drops of silicon enter the clothes and attach themselves to dirt and oil. When extracted, the drops of silicone take the dirt and oil with them. The silicone can be reused over and over again.
