4 out of 5 people found this review helpful. Went to Hakim Optical store at Eglinton and Warden (a little west to Warden) in Scarborough. The sales person was BUSY and was very interested in making a sale rather than giving customers a little more attention.
I ordered 2 pairs of glasses and the guy took the measurements within 2 minutes. It wasn't a surprise that when I received my glasses - it had the worst possible vision. When the glasses were delivered - they didn't even adjust the frames.
After complaining about vision and awkward frame fitting - I was told that I will get used to it because it's new prescription.

I tried the glasses for 2 days which gave me terrible headaches, and blurry vision. After going back - they asked me to go back to my doctor to change my prescription.

Doctor confirmed that the prescription was just fine rather they didn't make the glasses right. Went back to the store and this time they agreed that there was a mistake and promised to make a new pair. I requested them to take the measurements (P.D.) to make sure that the glasses are made right. But they assured that they have all the data.

After they give this new pair - it was the same problem once again. Went back to the doctor and he advised that the store didn't make the lens right once again. Went back to the store - they were very rude and asked to go to a different doctor or get my old prescription. Went back to my doctor and requested to get my old prescription (same strengths as the glasses I am wearing).

Hakim re-made the glasses and guess what - no improvement what so ever. Even with the strengths of my old prescription I could see fine with my old glasses but the vision was just horrible in the new glass.

This time they said that my old glasses are made of generic lens but the new glasses are made with high index lens and that's why the vision is different. Hmmm.... I thought people pay big money for high index lens to get "Better" vision - not worse! And I've been wearing glasses for 18 years - so I know how will it feel if the glasses are made right.

Anyway - tried this new pair for 2 more days and almost got into an accident because I literally had no peripheral vision.

Went back to them and asked for a refund. An ethnic lady and an ethnic guy became quite abusive and started to tell me to change my prescription. I couldn't make them realize that the glasses they made this time has the same strengths as the pair I was wearing.

Went back after a few days and talked to their General Manager, requesting for a refund. He offered me to make one last pair. He agreed that all the pairs were made before - had wrong P.D. (pupillary distance) calculation so I was getting blurry peripheral vision.

Do you know the funny thing? This time as well they didn't spend 5 minutes with me to get the exact reading for P.D.

They made the new glass and it was no better than other.

Well, I've learned my lesson. Previously I made glasses with other optical stores and had no problem. They spend time to take measurements, spend time to make sure that frame fits right and most important - they make sure that I can see right.

I will rather go to Walmart to get my next pair but I'm not going back to those crooks again.

I do not recommend this place.
