She did an excellent job, I will definately go back. I realized that you have to let hair dressers do what they do best . That is to recomment haircuts that they think will suit you. When i found out he leaving I was so upset. He sent me to a girl named Molly, she is amazing as well. The place is a little run down, but it doesn't stop the haircuts from being good. Noticing that a few of u have had some good experiences at this place, i'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say that i must've had the worst hair dresser on the planet. I went there about 4 years ago during christmas holiday in my firstyear at u of t. The place looked cool on the outside and always saw these cool chicks with great hairstyles lounging around outside (i suspect they were hair stylists). I sauntered in with a picture in tow and asked to get it cut. They directed me to this african lady who sat me down without washing my hair and proceeded to cut...i noticed she didn't cut very much off compared to my pic (shorter than a bob-length hair cut) and then she simply GELed it...ew...and said it was done. I asked her to re-do it since it didn't look anything like the picture...and next thing i know..she's given me a buzz cut...i ran out of the salon crying all the way down yonge street and they refused to refund my money. I've never been back, and i don't plan to..nor do i recommend anyone to go there.. if you do plan on going, i'd recommend u listen to the reviews on here and go to those specific stylists who you know are credible. 	0 out of 2 people found this review helpful. i went in for a haircut a few weeks ago. i got a girl named Sara and she did awesome job. she gave me a really funky cut and made me realize my old haircut was shitty. she was totally cool and funny too. i'll definetly go back for another. i would recommend her because she really took her time and listened to what i wanted!! She was friendly, funny and very talented. Best haircut ever. When I had long hair, for getting a good stucture and style and a stylist that would actually listen to you- I recommend Dacia. And if you continue to grow it, she'll maintain it without that inbetween-haistyle-look. She"ll even fix a really bad haircut from a bad stylist. I'm now keeping it short and Robert is the man. His an excellent stylist and most customers(guys)request him. Whether you have an idea of style or not, he'll make you look good. Stick to a stylist you know and don't just be pesuaded by an available stylist- there may be a reason for that.(A busy stylist is a good stylist) I recommend this place. I recommend this place. 	7 out of 11 people found this review helpful. House of Lords is TERRIBLE!! While there may be SOME competent stylists there, it's hard to imagine why. The place is always DIRTY and the layout makes it feel overly crowded. Many of the stylists borrow each other's equipment so they won't always have the tools they need to do your hair. You might as well go to First Choice Haircutters because that is the quality of service you will get, but at House of Lords they charge a hell of a lot more. Stylists are RUDE AND SNOTTY and you hear them every 5 minutes complaining to the receptionist about how they aren't getting any clients...so chances are, when you walk in you're getting some hack that doesn't have any appointments and is pissed off about it. I was suposse to see a stylist called YOUNG but she is on vacation. So i'm there waiting for young and KRISTA came up to me and said "come with me,Young's not here but i'm going to do your hair" So i trusted her BAD MISTAKE!!! She didn't listen! 	2 out of 5 people found this review helpful. I LOVE Dacia, she is always busy (that says something right there) but always makes time for her customers. She is friendly and fun to talk to. I went in there after a bad hair experience with little trust and I explained what I wanted, she made sure she could do it before she started and when she was done...WOW!! I loved it!! Actually, what I liked most about her is that she works with your hair, not against it and your hair doesn't just look good when you leave, it looks good as you style it and as it grows out!! Honestly, everyone in there seems really nice, but if Dacia left, I would follow her!! I have recommended her and the salon to all my friends and family and many of us go to her!! 	2 out of 5 people found this review helpful. House of Lords is great for those not familiar with hair salons. Some great stylists, some not so great. The best seem to use this place as a stepping stone to greater things... my old stylist did Paul McCartney's hair while he was in town, and now owns her own salon! However, be prepared for drama. Having gone there for years with 3 different stylists, i heard and saw a lot... The owners live upstairs, and they have cameras in the shop. If you talk to the receptionist too long, they will call to ask them why they aren't working. I have personally witnessed the male owner's racism, when in the presence of black stylists. Furthermore, he had an affair with a receptionist and his wife came into the salon to confront said receptionist. He is also rude when answering the phone, as he was upset when I tried to book an appointment with a specific stylist, and would not confirm that my appointments would be honoured. If you ignore all of that, and find the right stylist, you will be more than happy! I still go to a stylist who I met there... I recommend this place. Was this review helpful? It was my first time going to any salon (I usually go to first choice, get something mediocre and don't cut my hair again for a couple of years). I brought a picture and rather than just copy it, she listened to me and we worked out what I wanted. She also gave me advice about my colour and styling products. When it was finished, she styled it, and it looked pretty scary, but when I got it home and styled it myself it was perfect. If I knew I was going to love it this much I'd have tipped more. 	16 out of 19 people found this review helpful. DACIA is the best hair stylest in the place. I cut and coloured my hair and it was like 100. She did a filler to my damaged hair and helped REVIVE it ! Shes amazing and she is also great to talk to while getting your hair done. The music may be a little loud, but it is so worth it. And the music is just a part of House of Lords ! This pace is a hidden gem..it grunge looking..loud music, funky stylist paid by commission...in the 80's this WAS the place to be and Paul (the manager) kept that retro style. Certain Stylists are better then others...I used to ALWAYS go the Josette and always had great haircuts until one day when it was bad and she made me wait for 2 hours before i just wnet to another stylist. Dont get me wrong Josette is Funky and Strange but really good! I now go to SANDRA...This is my girl...honestly I love her so much, if i was not gay i would date her..LOL Sandra cuts and colours so amazingly and shes always into her patrons, you sometimes pay a little more for her but so worth it cause the experience she gives you is way better than anyone in the place. PROPS to Sandra. So go to house of Lords and create you own experience and dont be turned off by the retro pics, loud music, peeling paint, and retro hair products. I would recommend this place to anyone that wants reassurance that your stylist will LISTEN to what YOU really want, will do an OUTSTANDING job, and that you'll walk out feeling and looking like a ROCK STAR! I'm always hesitant to come back, but $15 for a men's haircut is pretty solid, and they're a step above Supercuts. One thing worth mentioning - they're paid by the haircut here, not by the hour. There are a lot of stylists there so you don't have to wait long and you don't need an appointment. HOWEVER, I have had bad haircuts there, depending on which stylist you get (and the turnover rate for stylists seems high). So, choose a favourite and stick with him/her. And it probably wouldn't matter anyway since the stylist refused to listen to what I wanted and was too arrogant to care. Can get a really good stylist or really bad..so maybe know who you're going to...the manager Paul is crazy!! Well worth a visit, so cheap!! But if ya don't like LOUD dance music..this ain't for you!! I communicated exactly what I wanted as I'm a hair stylist myself. It turned out to be a bit Pricey, but the colour she used on my hair was fantastic. I wish I would have asked if the entire price of the hair colour was included in my total, if so I would have wanted to take any leftovers. I'm actually still trying to hunt down the product she used. It was from the shop nextdoor is all I know aside from what the packaging looked like. My haircut was fantastic. I recommend this place. I didn't mind the music, the price for a woman was sooo cheap and the results were usually perfect. this past September I got the words hair cut and dry I've ever recieved in my life!!!! I was hesitant, but I'd definitly do back again, just not to the same person. Also- I recomed this place to everyone and they all tell me how much they love it. I recommend this place.
