Pastor's Message
Founded in 1818, Jarvis Street Baptist Church continues to exist, by divine favor, for the praise of God's name, the salvation of sinners, and the encouragement of believers.
As a multicultural community of believers, we are committed to releasing the Word of God through faithful, Spirit-led exposition of Scripture. And since worship is not about us, but about God, we aspire to exalt our sovereign Lord in simplicity, reverence, and joy. As for our theology, we hold dear the doctrines of Grace and subscribe in principle to the historic Calvinistic Baptist Confessions of Faith. The appended Statement of Faith serves only as a breviary of these beliefs.
Besides our passionate devotion to praising His name, truthfully proclaiming His word in worship, and witnessing to the riches of His grace to sinners, we are also devoted to giving Him and ourselves no rest in prayer, imitating the character of our Lord Jesus Christ, and demonstrating the love of Christ in Christian fellowship.
Regardless of your age, cultural background, marital or economic status, JSBC welcomes you. If you are not yet a Christian, our church and Bible School workers are men and women who have personally received the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior, and are interested in sharing the Gospel message with you. If, on the other hand, you are a believer seeking a home Church or just visiting the city, please join us this Sunday at 11 am or 6:30 pm.

College & Career: Saturdays 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM
All people ages 18-32+ are invited to join us at the church for singing, Bible study, spiritual discussion, recreational activites and fellowship.
You are welcome, whether you are a Christian who is seeking to deepen your relationship with Jesus Christ or someone who simply wants to find out more about the Bible and to develop friendships in a spiritual environment.
Before the Sunday morning worship time, at 9:45 AM Sunday School is a time of more informal teaching and instruction in smaller groups where you will have the opportunity to ask questions. Participation and discussion are encouraged. In our classes, we study the Bible to find out about God, about our world, and about ourselves.
Sunday School classes are for all ages, from children age 2 up to senior adults, and the nursery cares for babies up to 2 years. We also have an English as a Second Language Sunday School Class.
Our ministry has three components:
The ESL Bible Class
The Chinese Bible Study Group
The International Fellowship Evening
The translation equipment used to translate the main ideas of the Sunday morning sermon into Mandarin has proved to be very helpful. At least 100 adults and children attended the Christmas party on December 21, 2001. Pastor Thompson spoke to an attentive audience in Greenway Chapel after dinner.
Again we are thankful to the Church family for their support and prayers. May God be praised for the increase and spiritual growth.
