Long padded black banquettes and plastic chairs are casual, while a soaring ceiling creates a spacious feel despite the chatting crowds. Strictly apps, pizzas and pastas. An OK caprese salad ($8.95): the bocconcini are soft, the tomatoes ripe, but the essential basil leaves are missing. Thin-crust pizzas ($12ˇV$13) could use a little more time in the oven for crisping; one combo is artichoke hearts, mozz, tender eggplant and salty tomato sauce. Pastas range from decent to great (cream sauce is a downfall): slick in good olive oil, linguine with genuine porcinis and other wild ˇ¦shrooms ($13) is made rich with a surprise drop of truffle oil. Huge servings. House-made pear tart ($8) holds much unctuous fruit. Many good consignment Italian wines at reasonable prices.
