1 out of 1 people found this review helpful. I had been a fan of Amato for years, but heard a lot of bad reviews from friends. Now I know why. It took over TWO HOURS for them to deliver our pizzas, which were stone cold and floppy from steaming out all of their heat inside a cardboard box (for an hour an a half, I would assume).

Many other review sites complain about stale slices in the storefronts but my biggest grievance is not the fact that it was TWO HOURS later and my kids went to bed without pizza, nor that it was quite terrible even after I threw them back in the oven (makes you wonder if I shouldn't have just made a pizza and thrown it in the oven myself). My biggest grievance is that the guy said it would be there in 45 minutes, and when I called back at 1 1/2 hours, he was downright nasty and rude.

I was mid-dialing to cancel when it finally arrived TWO HOURS 5 MINUTES later. Foolishly, I decided not to blame the delivery guy for his bosses poor management. When you KNOW you cant make your delivery, DONT LIE and say you'll be there in 45 minutes! Say "Sorry, it's sooo busy we can do pick-up only!"

Now a note on quality: Amato was somewhat special when Pizza Pizza was the norm. Then they decided not to pay their staff and had a lawsuit that closed down several locations. Then some reopened. Now there are a lot of places doing nice pizza, and Amato's quality has declined. For a great slice, check out Magic Oven... but for the greatest - try Pizzaiolo. FANTASTIC. Charming people and great slices.

PS I live 10 minutes away, it was sunny, 17 degrees, clear skies. No reason to be late!

I do not recommend this place.

Their dining room is homey but nice. The spaghetti and meatballs are just like mom makes, and their salads are fresh and crisp and perfect. They serve fresh pita bread with dipping oil and vinegar to start, and the portions are huge, so you don't need to order a lot of appetizers. They can also make you a full sized pizza to share.
I recommend this place.
