I have been several times simply because it is very close to where I live but each time I regret it and vow never to return. If you do go, stay away from their terrible salads and omlettes. Bloor Street Diner is neither French, nor is it located in Toronto's financial district (that would put it at King and Bay). The food is not good and it is overpriced. There are better sandwiches to be had at a nearby cafe. Recently, I ordered the quiche of the day and was served a quiche with different ingredients (the chef had switched quiches without informing wait staff) and it was so burnt that its surface was black. I watched in disbelief as the runner set it down on my table. "Did the kitchen seriously put this out to be served?" I asked and she shrugged. My waitress came over, took one look at my quiche and went, "That's totally burnt." I agreed and she returned it, only to be informed that the entire quiche was burnt. Whoever sent this out from the kitchen has no right working in one. It seems that the difference between good restaurants in Toronto, and horrible ones, continues to expand. I would recommend eating the popcorn at the movie theatre above the restaurant rather than wasting your money at this place. I do not recommend this place. Was this review helpful? This is one of those borderline cases that is right at the edge, almost ready to tip into becoming truly 'good' The Bloor Street Diner is a combination restaurant + bar. I've been to the restaurant about half a dozen times (my friends seem to love it), and have eaten both inside and outside. Problem with outside? Smokers. Ugh. Its a horrible reality, but go to almost any restaurant in Toronto, and if you sit outside, you will have smoke spewed at you. Gross. The food itself is okay. The bright spot really is the appetizers. The crab cakes are especially delicious, and so are their quesadillas. The food itself is okay, but nothing too memorable. The deserts are also okay - they do look good, but somehow just don't taste that great (and oh I love deserts). Overall a very middling place. I think you should try it, but only if in your way.
