We took a chance last night on the delivery menu for Ginger Blossom that came in the mail . . . HUGE mistake! With close to 150 items on the menu the kitchen is obviously overextended. Other than the hot and sour soup, the six items we ordered were terrible. When the soggy greasy dough was picked off of the banana, dessert was somewhat edible. The Szechuan mixed vegetables, Chicken with peanut chili sauce and especially the General Tao chicken were not fresh and doused in MSG leaving a bad taste in our mouths, not to mention the all night stomach cramps and sickness that followed. A real waste of money with the uneaten food tossed in the garbage. Unable to find a website or email contact info I decided to phone the restaurant the following day to express my dissatisfaction with our previous night's dinner. I asked to speak with the owner Jimmy Chung, only to be treated rudely and aggressively by the man who answered the phone. The man's name was Sandy, he coughed into the receiver constantly and he refused to tell me if he was an owner or manager of the restaurant. He asked who I was and I replied that I was a customer who would like to speak to an owner or manager. He was irate, yelled and hung up on me. Stay away from Ginger Blossom, unless you're looking for substandard Asian fare, terrible customer service and all-night diarrhea.

After moving to the BloorOssington area I spent a year trying different chinese takeoutdelivery places in search of one that had consistently great food. My search was going very poorly - each place would have one or two great items, but other items would suck so badly. Then came Ginger Blossom. I LOVE this restaurant. Try all of the chef recommended items. Personally, I usually like what I like, but after trying one of the chef items I was hooked into expanding my usual order. Deep fried soft shell crab appetizer is yummy! Green beans with black olives hot szechuan style is amazing! Even the usual boring BBQ spare ribs is fragrant, tender and delicious! Alright, I'm gonna go finish my takeout now. Hee:) I recommend this place. Was this review helpful? Yes | No | Report as Spam |

The food at Ginger Blossom was passable, but the service was challenging.

While the decor and presentation are beautiful, Ginger Blossom is really just a very pretty face put on mediocre but nominally authentic Chinese cuisine. If you haven't been exposed to Chinese food beyond Manchu Wok and want something a little more authentic without straying from the comforts of North American cleanliness and aesthetic standards, this is the place to go. Try the tofu and broccoli in black bean sauce.

my partner and i heard rumours that ginger blossom is the former owners of Shanghai lily...so, we headed down there and to our surprise...it sure was!! we missed the food from shanghai lily, so we were so excited!! We missed there hot and sour soup!! it was perfect as usual!! we also loved there chicken in black bean sauce!! but overall we are super happy to have lily back in our life even if it is under a diffrent name!! One thing though...the decor is quite diffrent from shanghai lily, but when u have hot &sour soup that fabulous it does not really matter!! Plus we also love the fact they now deliver too!! ps..we also quite miss the martini days at shanghai lily`s!!
