2 out of 5 people found this review helpful. Visited Katz's Deli in Toronto on Dufferin (NEAR YORKDALE MALL).
They do not wear gloves and handle all food barehanded. After I asked them they say they wash their hands very often. Also they do not wear hairnets. WHO CONTROL HOW OFTEN THEIR WORKERS SERVING THE FOOD WASH THEIR HANDS?
Do you realise how long you have to wash your hands after visiting a washroom and wiping your ass? yak! Of cause they have to wash hands, wear gloves and change them frequently.
I LEFT THE PLACE AND WILL NEVER VISIT KATZ'S DELI AGAIN!!! DO NOT GO THERE!!!
TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW ABOUT IT!

2 out of 4 people found this review helpful. I would not recommend it to a friend, not even to my worst enemy. Staff is rude; the food is average. No way you can ask for 'lean' or 'medium'smoked meat; even less for 'sliced thin'. It looks like a college cafeteria and reminded me at the same time of a chain factory. Are they related to Katz's in New York City?

3 out of 4 people found this review helpful. I wouldn't say the service was rude so much as they just didn't care at all.

It was a business lunch so I had to suffer in silence as the fellow preparing my corned beef trimmed the fat from the uncut beef AFTER he had already prepared my order - BLAAA

Okay, could they serve the sandwich on a smaller plate? So they lightly pin the top pieces of bread togther only to have it burst apart and have the bread and beef fall onto the tray (remember the small plates) - BLAA

So I fill up my glass with a tab drink and the tap doesn't shut off so I have to use my finger to pull the tap shut - BLAA. Then with my hand wet with tab drink and my sandwich spread across my tray I ask the cash person if there were napkins and she says 'yes', and I have to say 'and they are located where?'.

Suffice it to say that I feel the best for this place would be a management shake up.

2 out of 5 people found this review helpful. I have eaten at Katz's Deli since the 80's. I have since moved to Oshawa in the late 90's and continue to travel to Katz's to take out a pound or two of Roast Beef. The food is fantastic if you are a deli fan. I highly recommend Katz's!

5 out of 8 people found this review helpful. The food is okay but the service isn't that good.

At times there is only one person serving the whole line. If someone comes in for takeout, their order goes to the front of the line instead of where it should be.

They don't know how to make iced tea. You are supposed to cool it in the fridge and serve it on ice. They cool it with ice so it is too watered down.

It's pretty expensive if you are a big eater (salad, sandwich, dessert, drink) but okay if you are not a big eater.

I do not recommend this place.

I recommend this place.

5 out of 11 people found this review helpful. I went there yesterday for lunch with my best friend and her Husband. We each ordered the smoked meat sandwich - and an order of fries and gravy with 1 diet coke - costing us $33! The people were RUDE (every single one of them that we came in contact with), there was a fly in the fries and gravy - when we approached someone at the counter his response was "oh well it must have been flying around the dining room" - no oh I'm sorry, no nothing! Then to get the nearly $4.00 back for them was like pulling teeth!!! NEVER EVER AGAIN AND NEVER WILL I ADVISE ANYONE GO THERE !!!
I do not recommend this place.

3 out of 5 people found this review helpful. I have always heard about Katz's Deli's famous deli sandwiches but I've never tried it out because I live in Hamilton. Just recently I traveled to Toronto and experienced the best pastrami sandwich of my life. By the way Katz's dill pickles were amazing as well!! I definitely recommend Katz's Deli.
