Last night, I placed an order for six people at 6:00 p.m. I was told that the order would take about one hour. After 90 minutes, I phoned back and was told by the waitress that my order was on its way. I asked her how she knew that because she hadn't taken my name or phone number but she explained that there had been three orders for delivery placed and they had all left the restaurant.

Another 30 minutes passed (2 hours after the delivery had been placed and I live down the block). I phoned back and the waitress answered again. She told me she didn't know where my order was and then hung up on me. I called back and spoke to another person. He admitted that it had not yet left the restauarant and my food was still in the kitchen. He told me that the waitress had told me that my order was on its way so she could get me off the phone. Then, when I asked what they were going to do to compensate me, he hung up on me. I phoned back and asked to speak to the manager. The manager asked me "did I want the food or not" and confirmed that they would not provide me with a discount or comp my order. I asked him to check how many times I had placed an order with them and he told me he was busy and he didn't care. I told him that I didn't appreciate being spoken to like this as I was the customer and he responded by telling me that I was a "mouthy woman" and that his food was "precious" and that I was "not deserving" and then hung up.

I am disgusted by the way I was treated and amazed by their lack of business sense. I had six people sitting in my livingroom, all of whom live in the neighbourhood and all of whom have told this story to their friends and neighbours.

No one deserves to be treated so poorly so I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I do not recommend this place.

I've been to many indian restaurants in toronto, and have my select 1 or 2 places that I go to, depending on which dish I'm in the mood for and North of Bombay in my opinion has the best butter chicken in the GTA. I have tried some of the other dishes and they are excellent as well (vegetable biryani, garlic naan to name a couple). Their food may seem a little pricey in comparison to some other indian restaurants, but the price difference is EASILY justified in the quality of food that you are getting. The restaurant itself is also up there when it comes to aesthetics and seating - this is not your typical indian restaurant (cheap, smelly, dirty)...its has a very elegant feel and to it, making it the perfect place for special occasions (valentines day, mothers day, birthdays, anniversaries etc). Spacious seating, along with decorations/paintings/artifacts reminiscent of ancient India in an opulent setting, along with great service by the waitressing staff combine for a wonderful evening with friends or family. If you're a fan of indian food, especially butter chicken, it doesn't get any better than North of Bombay. Highly recommended.
I recommend this place.
