4 out of 4 people found this review helpful. Papaya Island has good vegetable soup, a good tuna/salmon sandwich and good carrot juice - although they could have higher standards for cleanliness and sanitation. The fruit juices are tasty - but unless you can see real fruit being squeezed before you, don't be fooled. You won't find real papayas, mangos, pineapples nor coconuts here. The papaya, mango and coconut "juices" have their unusual consistency (and curious degree of uniformity of flavor over time) because these are not "juices", but rather are made from powdered flavors, from the Versa Group (http://www.versagroup.com.ph/?get=versafood& page=ffv01) and perhaps also other food companies. This does not mean that these are unhealthy nor harmful - but not nearly as nutritious (or costly) as fresh (non-dried, non-processed) juice would be. Check out E3Live (http://www.e3live.com/e3live.htm) if you need to be convinced of this. The powders used by Papaya Island are inexpensive and the business has been making substantial profit for many years with what can only be considered as a dubious business strategy. Many people that I know have expressed similar concerns - going back to the 1970s. The owners of Papaya Island will need to be committed to quality, cleanliness and to improving their honesty and ethics if they hope to keep long-term customers.
I do not recommend this place.

1 out of 3 people found this review helpful. Their Mango and Papaya juices are unlike any others - most delicious I have had anywhere. Their original Smoothies are phenomenal. Vegetarian and regular chili alone is worth the trouble to go downtown.
I recommend this place.
