DescriptionThe restaurant Ruth Fertel bought in 1965 was named "Chris Steak House," and she acquired the right to use that name as long as the restaurant remained in the original location. But after a fire forced her to move, she needed a new name. Adding her name to the logo seemed the simplest solution and "Ruth's Chris Steak House" was born. It has proven to be effective as people remember the name because it's so unusual. It has also had an additional benefit. . . people stopped calling her Chris.

i thought the service was fantastic. our server was friendly and funny, almost as if we were just regular customers/friends. i really liked that, but i can see how some people may wish to keep it a little more formal.
The food was expensive. A potato cut into four pieces cost $8. Most of what was on the menu was pricey, including the steaks. The steak here is fantastic. Made just the way you like it and they come on simmering plates that just sizzle.
I recommend this place based off of the steaks and service. The side orders though do leave a lot to be desired.

I recommend this place.

We had our company Christmas party there last year and the steaks were unbelievable. Broiled to perfection. The atmosphere is elegant but not stuffy.

I recommend this place.
