Salad King is one of those "knockoff" Thai restaurants and has been fooling Torontonians for ages (as well as Spring Rolls and many others in the city). Most of the stir-fired dishes use the same ingredients with different kind of meat and sauces. There is no single authentic Thai cuisine on the menu. The main floor is always crowded with food court feels and tacky decor. The staff seems to try to rush you in and out just like some restaurants in Chinatown.

I too was lied to at this place. I did specify that I was a vegan and gently explained what that meant to the server. I was told that the dish always met these specifications and that they were always vegan. Of course the next time I went in I found out that I had been lied to. I have several vegetarian friends that had the same experience and only found out the truth from other blogs/web sites that review restaurants. The fault is with the staff/management/owners of the restaurant. They may not know what vegan/vegetarian means but it has been explained to them and they simply lie when it suits them. The food is over rated anyway. For good thai food try "Jean's Vegetarian Kitchen" on Danforth. If desperate try Spring Rolls as at least they understand the terms vegetarian and vegan.
