The operator Diane greeted us personally tonight and went above and beyond to correct the poor service which resulted in a complaint being lodged with Head Office last week. Tonight's meal was the best I have had at this location in ages. Andrew, our server was a delight, both professional and personable. Diane was pleasant, courteous and wonderful to talk with. The food was steaming hot, the chicken fresh and juicy, the veggies just right, the salad perfect. This is a 360 degree turn around from the meal we got at the takeout counter last week. My mom, kids & myself were in Toronto and I reluctantly tried this restaurant, and I was pleasantly surprised at the menu. I enjoyed ribs while everyone else ate chicken dinners. 	1 out of 1 people found this review helpful. My friends, Dean, Barb, Susan, Jane and I went into the Swiss Chalet for Susan's Birthday. It was a very nice atmosphere to be in. The waiters and waitresses were very polite and helpful. I've ordered the Two Chicken Leg dinner with rice, and it was very nice. I've received a nice, big portion. I also like how the staff sung Happy Birthday to the Birthday Girl, Susan. I was also very satisfied with the Chocolate Alps that I've ordered for my desert. I recommend this place. It was what we have expected and received from most of our visits to any of the Swiss Chalets that we have recently attended. I recommend this place. Was this review helpful? We have being going to the Swiss Chalet on Merivale Road in Ottawa for a number of years now, but lately the service at the take-out has been getting worse. We seldom go home with our orders filled properly. It happened again last night (Aug.25/07). I ordered 2 chicken dinners 2 garden salads and a regular rib dinner with fries. The service was slower than normal. When I got home there were no fries with the rib order yet on the bill it clearly stated rib dinner with fries. The time before the garden salad I ordered was not included in the package. When I realized it was missing I went back into the restaurant and asked for it. I was made to feel like I was trying to get something for nothing as I was given the third degree. Time and time again something is always missing to the point that I think we will take our business elsewhere and believe me on Merivale Road in Ottawa there is certainly more than enough restaurants to pick from. 	2 out of 2 people found this review helpful. We waited for 45 minutes for our order to be filled. There was very few people in the restaurant that we could see. The waitress said that they had some big orders and were waiting for the chicken to be cooked. When we ordered, We should of been told that there would be a delay for chicken. That would have given us the opportunity to order something else, or we would have been prepared for the long wait. Really, a chicken restaurant running out chicken!!! Would you want to go back? We love rotisserie & grill chicken, french fries, soup, & salad ,specially the kids menu are the best;5 different selections to choose from which includes drinks,ice cream,toys and while we are waiting they gave us puzzle or coloring sheets & crayon to keep my children busy.This is a big space to dine-in , and they do have one(concave) exclusive corner area that we always get , It seems we are away from the crowds. My only concern was their washroom is all the way to the basement , accessbile to the residential parking lot , and to the public(non-patron of Swiss Chalet Restaurant). I recommend this place.
