"Upper Beach Cafe has been under renovations for quite awhile and it was wonderful to hear a lot of the patrons exclaiming how happy they were to see this gem open again for business. The renovation is wonderful with warm hardwood floors, lovely exposed brick, beautiful bright windows and a fireplace to keep you toasty. The ambience was almost as sunny as the owners dispositions, Melanie and Rawle are thrilled to have their restaurant back and we were excited to try out their fare. Kelly was going to have French toast but as soon as she heard that BLTs were on the menu she changed her mind! Bob went for a classic cheese omelet, Andrew decided on an omelet too but his was an egg white only, veggie omelet. I decided to pick up on the French toast and ordered that; we were not disappointed! All the meals came with a delicious fresh fruit salad that was literally spilling out of the dish it was such a generous portion -mangoes, papaya, pineapple were just a few of the interesting fruit served in this medley;no cantaloupe, watermelon or honeydew to be seen! The mens omelets were cooked to perfection and were steaming hot -fresh off the fry pan. Kelly's BLT was delicious and served on a scrumptious and interesting bread -not your ordinary whole wheat. And finally, my French toast was delectable; piping hot, made from a nut bread so it had a lovely crunch to the eggy concoction and a sweet blackberry syrup. I really enjoyed it. Melanie was telling us that they will have a patio in the spring and summer and are now wireless internet connected too, so if you have your own home office it's a great place to go to grab a coffee and meet clients or just work. They love having book clubs, parties or groups of any kind book the place during the day or evening. Finally, they are also open for dinner; one of their interesting specialties is individually made pasta night. You choose a pasta, different toppings and then select your flavour from a variety of options. I'm looking forward to going back to try that out! I hope you go to Upper Beach Cafe soon; they are at 1917 Gerrard St E (just west of Woodbine) 416-465-8002. "

I recommend this place.
