My husband and I went to Yamato twice before for their teppanyaki and it was good experience. Yesterday we went there again to try their Kobe Beef meals ($75/person). We were disappointed as soon as the main dish came. It looked no difference from the beef steak that the next table was getting (exact plating too!). Then the taste and texture were simply as good as a tender sirloin steak. We know the Kobe beef comes from US and the price is relatively low for Kobe beef but at least we would expect it to taste somewhat better than normal steak. Moreover, the meal covers only a miso soup + salad (that you would get with any dish), not even dessert. You may say taste is objective, but at least I think it should be a complete course. I have to say this would be our last visit to this restaurant and hope to let others know if they want to try their Kobe beef dinner.

I was visiting this restaurant a few times and can say that the food is OK (nothing special). It's not the cheapest place at all. The other thing is order-waiting time (1 hour or more at least). Stuff communication skills are very low. Make sure they understood your order otherwise you are going to pay for something extra. The attitude to solve the problem is very low too. Nobody likes the phrase:"IT IS YOUR PROBLEM!” Suggestion: consider visiting TAKO SUSHI - big difference. I do not recommend this place. Was this review helpful? Yes | No | Report as Spam |

A great sushi restaurant in the heart of Yorkville. Their sushi is excellent but one of my favourites is actually the cheapest (and most filling) item on the menu, Oyako-Don (chicken, onion & shitake mushroom stewed in sake with egg, served on a bed of rice). Their sushi pizza is dense and crispy with excellent toppings. Well worth a visit.
