Went in there on Saturday afternoon to have a nice lunch. Ordered the lunch special that included spring roll, soup and an entree. This was our first Thai food expereince and will probably be the last. The order arrived pretty quickly, we started with the spring roll that was delicious... proceeded with the soup... I took two slurps and saw something small, bug like floating in my plate. while I was freaking out, trying to determine whether it was a bug or not,my boyfriend took a closer look at my soup and discovered another bug + nice thick long black hair. We called the waitress and walked out of the restaurant. I was to nuseous to make a scene. I still get shivers thinking about the two slurps of the soup that I took. disgusting! Please note that this restaurant is now located at 2907 Dundas Street West in the Junction and is no longer at the church street address, to the best of my knowledge. I too have had very rude treatment at the time of pickup of a take out order. I also have had the sudden surprise that they don't accept credit cards. Still we decided to order again from this restaurant yesterday. It was our wedding anniversary and my husband had ordered for pick up at 5:30. They accepted his order earlier in the afternoon. I popped over to pick it up and they said "we only fill orders for the evening if you order at 5 PM or late". They said "the person you placed your order with no longer works here". So we had no food. As we had another committment and were hoping to have something to quickly take home and eat with family we could not re-order nor would I have given them the business. They just were angry and rude to me and told us that we didn't order at the right time but in the first instance they had accepted the order without any difficulty. I have never had a pleasant experience in terms of a smiling person at the front and I think there is a problem with this restaurant which for years has had a great reputation in Toronto. I will not go back there. I will not recommend to anyone that they go there. I do not recommend this place. Was this review helpful? Yes | No | Report as Spam |

This restaurant has since moved to my neighbourhood, the Junction. I went to this restaurant as I like to support the businesses in my area and I had read a wonderful review in the Globe. Unfortunately, I have to report that I have had two terrible experiences. The first was when I popped in to order take-out for myself. After ordering I presented my credit card and was very rudely told, "I don't take credit cards for take-out". Later, I wrote a letter to the owner, as a sign in the window very clearly states that credit cards are accepted. The owner called and apologized and said she hoped that I would come back. The second was when I went to pick up an $85 order. When I arrived to pick up the order again I was told by the same rude man (I have since found out that he is the owner's son) that he would not take credit cards for take-out; when I explained that the owner had disputed that statement he told me to get the f-out of the restaurant and called me a female dog. I was shaking when I left this restaurant and it is my hope that everyone will stay away from this restaurant until this man is removed. I am happy to report that we have many other wonderful restaurants in the area such as, The Friendly Thai and North of Bombay. I do not recommend this place. Was this review helpful? My husband and I, along with another couple, went to Young Thailand for dinner. We've eaten at alot of Thai restaurants and there are much better ones. We were immediately greeted with a sign on the door reading "Entertainment Book not accepted on Sundays". One of the reasons we chose the restaurant was because it's in the Entertainment Book and the coupon says that it's "good any time". When we ordered appetizers, we were told you had to order the whole meal at once or it may be a long wait for the main course. (The couple beside us left after waiting half an hour for their order that the waiter forgot to place). When our meal came, the food was good, but the dishes were small. Also, the waiter wasn't very pleasant. As I said before, there are many Thai restaurants that are much better - for example - Salad King on Gould St. at Yonge St. Salad King is very, very good. The service is fast and friendly, the food is great, the price is right and every dish comes with rice. Another nice place is Lotus Thai in Thornhill. It's located in a small plaza called Yorkville North, across from Centrepoint Mall at Yonge and Steeles. At Lotus Thai as soon as you're seated they bring tea to the table and shrimp chips with peanut sauce. The same shrimp chips are $2.95 at Young Thailand. I wouldn't go back to Young Thailand at 81 Church St. It's really nothing special. I do not recommend this place. Was this review helpful? Yes | No | Report as Spam |
