The Edward Street BMV is a fine used bookstore in both selection and service.(As is 471 Bloor West). The cold,(and sometimes downright rude)customer service that you might recieve at Yonge/Eglington is a severe drawback whether you are buying or selling. I recommend this place. I really love this store. Lots of movies, comics, and books. One of my favorite stores in Toronto. They may not always have what your after, but they get new stuff all the time. Staff has always been friendly and helpful. I recommend this place. Was this review helpful? Yes | No | Report as Spam |

If your looking for any subject or a particular book, there is a very good chance that you would find it at this place. There are some high priced books, and there are a lot of reasonably priced books. Overall, I've had joy in finding that book that other places don't have in stock; are pleased to order it in in 8 weeks, but pay for it now; unavailble because out of print or Daniel Steel sells well so lets have half a store of it. I think the interior well suited to searching for books. There is little distraction by a cooffee bar or perpetually smiling people demonstrating how to use a touch screen monitor. Of course not everybody can be really cool and treat everyone as the most important customer. If one is looking for superficial flash, well don't come here. Go to Chapters. If you really like books, into reading, enjoy variety, shop here. Or just browse, like in a candy store.

I am tired of fake reviews especially glowing reviews which are obviously put on by somebody connected to the store in question! Here's the truth: This shop by biggest bookstore has a good selection of mildly priced to extremely overpriced used books and videos. The staff are rude to you if you are trying to sell books. PERIOD. The man with the German accent seems okay but if you get him on a bad day like I did once he will answer you angerily and gruffly. The worst individual is the one guy with a goatee (dark hair white guy about 30 or so) who makes sure he slams your books or magazines on the counter when you buy them. This is very irratating if you are a collector and you just bought some of their overpriced comics and are trying to keep them from creasing! You are a young good looking lady you'll probably get better treatment from the date hungry nerdy staff of guys but everybody else forgetaboutit! My advice if you must buy from here please research that used collectible book on ABEBOOKS.com first. Nope I do not work for them but I am a shrewd shopper and tired of seeing people get ripped off. What a spectacular place. I can't believe what a tremendous addition BMV is to the annex. I adore having it so closeby. Although they are still working on their organization, it looks like it'll be complete perfection within the week. I've never seen so many great books and DVDs at such wonderful prices. The layout is open, clean, and welcoming. The exterior facade is endearing.

I'm sorry to say that their new Annex location wsa built with inaccessiblity in mind! How can, in this day and age, a businesses support building a place with a pointless step/podium on the way in and three steps in the middle of the building on the main floor! This place was months in construction and there is no need for these steps! I am sorely disappointed.

This is the first place I go to look for books. They have a phenomenal selection of publishers overstock, but not just crappy home decorating books - they've got gift sets and bestsellers and all kinds of cool stuff. Their used book selection is also very good, and the prices are quite low. Comic book fans and sci-fi/fantasy nerds will want to come here to see the graphic novels and comic books as well as their extensive used sci-fi section.

I LOVE BMV. At either this or the Yonge & Eglinton location, you can choose from a wide selection of books at over half the price of the big box stores (Chapters, etc.). A lot of the selection is books that are gently used, and others are factory ends (or what have you) that are near indistinguishable from new books. Edward Street also has a gigantic selection of old magazines, as well as a newer DVD & video selection (Check behind the counter for even more really cool- and cheap! DVDs.)

I love the Yonge and Eglinton location. There are tons of books to choose from, and they have lot of books that are overstock, so they are brand new at 50% off the original price. I got the whole lemony snicket collection for my cousin, and they were brand new. They only cost $7.00 each, while right across the street at chapters they were $17.00 a book!
