i have been going to gamerama for over a year. and i think its safe to say this place is amazing. they have a great selection of classic games and newer games. i recently bought starwars battlefront 2 for 15 dollars and got a 60 day warranty on it for no extra cost. sometimes the guys that work there can take a little while to help you but you can just look around at all the great stuff they have there. and if you cant find something there just walk upstairs to ebgames they probably will have it if its newer and if they dont you can walk down to future shop or toysrus. I am an avid gamer, and pretty much the only place I shop at is gamerama. The owner try's to get the game you want specially if it is an old one and now with the new manager, he has been trying to change the store for the better. this place rocks, and when people that work for the competition shop that has to say something positive about the place. Even my kids won't shop anywhere else they would rather wait till we go to gamerama. Well my message to the staff and owner of gamerama keep on gameing we love you guys. this is a message for the people that have a problem with gamerama " we are all human " and before you bash someone look in the mirror and give yourself a big hug, cause u probably need it. Im acutally a long time customer, it does smell bad in there, but they have the best selection or can get whatever you want for you. Attitude is average for a retail store. I know the guys there, all are fine with me. BlueOyster your such a homo, what kind of name is that? Do you remember the BlueOyster gay bar from police academy you pole swallower? And seriously what kind of RETARD wants to buy a broken game?? Has anyone noticed the giant shrink wrap machine EB has on its counter? or are you looking at another mans pole? Who cares about a discount bin? What are you on welfare? Need a food stamp homo? If you acutally paid attention they have won independant retailer of the year for 5 years, guess they are doing something right. And to the whining bitch for her Wii, bitch shut the fuck up, as I recall they are hard to come by..

Oh boy. What can I say about some of the reviewers? Umm..you all suck! You know what? Sure the guys at the store are snippy sometimes, but only when they have to deal with cheapass retarded customers like yourselves. You guys always beg for deals even though the store has constant deals running. $5 to $10 off used games. 2 weeks exchange. With the discount most of their used games come to way under the EB price. And the 2 weeks exchange? Hahah..try that at EB! I admit, they are not always up on price changes on games. But if you let them know it's cheaper at another store, they'll match it usually. Remember, this is an independent store. They don't get discounts that Futureshop gets for buying bulk. So Futureshop may be selling it $5 cheaper, but that would bring it below the cost at the store. I been there often enough to understand the story from both sides. The customers are usually to blame. Videgamers are just the stupidest people on earth. Anyways. I recommend Gamerama over EB and all the other stores in Toronto. P.S. To the reviewer that got upset that the store didn't want to sell you a BROKEN game...are you mental? The game is broken...what kind of ape would buy a broken game? If i were that employee I would have slapped you upside the head with the case and tell you to get out! I recommend this place. I was there recently for my metal gear ps3 system, they were out of stock, the owner took my deposit and personally delivered the system to my house the next evening! The guys at EB are terrible, no return policy what so ever. I will never shop there again. Who else delivers to your door? I even got 2 of my games re-surfaced for free when they were too scratched up.

the clerks might be snappy sometimes, but, 3 weeks ago i was looking to sell my PS3, they quoted me at 400$. just to compare, i went to the EB games upstairs to see what they would quote me. EB quoted me $150 less than gamerama.

"Disgusting" is my choice word for one of the worst video game shops that i've ever been to; Gamerama. From the minute you walk into the place you start to smell stale food (most likely pizza seeing as there are empty boxes of it covering half of their showcased games), and realize that this place really isn't "Toronto's best video game store". In fact, this place is far, far from it. I went into the place once in search of some Dreamcast and PSX games but when i asked to see some of them, the usually snippy bald clerk informed me that he wasn't going to take the games out unless i was going to buy them. At this point i knew i was in the wrong place. I told him that i would purchase some of them as i had seen some games that i was interested in. As i inspected the games, i noticed cracks throughout the actual discs (something that's not usually normal if you take care of your games) and hesitated to put them back as i thought i wouldn't be able to see any more games because it was just so hard to get them out of the showcase. This place is terrible, it's located under an EB Games (the better store), and looks like some slob's basement. The two clerks i dealt with treated me as if i wasn't even in the store. (both of them bald and very rude) the only thing either of them did was burp and make wise cracks. shopper beware, this is THE WORST video game store in Toronto. the prices are horrendous and so is the service. if you want REAL prices and REAL service, try Game Centre or Video Games Plus. (all clerks at both of those stores are over the top friendly)

well, well, well. what can one say about gamerama. sure the staff will be douches sometimes, that just happens, why? hell if I know. I used to be a regular there and got along fine with the "guys" although it seemed to get "cliquey" at certain points. blue oyster has it down pat. we don't care about you at gamerama, we go there to have fun, hang out, eat and play video games, if a customer DOES walk in we give em the ol' "hi can I help you with anything" and then go back to whatever the hell we would rather be doing. OH, by the way, the big boss there is a total racist, yeah thats right Alex, you heard me. If a jewish family comes in with a broken PS2(its just dust on the laser) alex lets 'em off with out a single charge, why cause he's jewish. if a black family comes in, its 60 dollers off the bat for the same thing. "shvartsas" he'll say. or something to that effect. If alex sees this I am in SO much shit. But yeah, gamerama, you go for the atmosphere not the deals. I miss the old times. phil sam devo colin orlando I recommend this place. Was this review helpful? Yes | No | Report as Spam |

Here's the deal with Gamerama, it's a horrible store. Anyone who disagrees either works at Gamerama (bet the 5 star ratings are employees) or have enough extra money to throw around buying over-priced games at their store (hence the expensive location of Yonge & Eglinton). I agree fully with the user who said that the employees have no manners. I went to their store a few times and each time I could have been an invisible man because I wasn't getting any service. I stood in front of these idiots waiting for some kind of response, rather they just kept talking to eachother like it was their house and I was a stranger. The worst thing is their EXTREMELY high prices. No it isn't an exaggeration, nearly every title is highly overpriced. Even their discount bin doesn't have any games cheaper than 10 bucks! EB Games is MUCH better, the employees are nicer and their games are %50 cheaper. EB is the place to go, don't shop here, you won't be attended to unless the store is completely empty and the games are overpriced. Not to mention they sell broken systems and swindle customers by not accepting returns on them. They also shrinkwrap used games and sell them as new. I do not recommend this place. Hmm... gamerama... what to say... Well early 07, I went in there after a doctor's appointment, and they were super nice, and I picked up some nice games (Tokyo Xtreme for the DC, F-16 card for SMS, and Weaponlord {what?} for Genesis). I went back this past November after another doctor's appointment, and found Shenmue 2 for the DC (PAL version), and I ripped off the guys at a price of 25 dollars (look around online for the lowest price; it'll be 50 dollars or higher guaranteed). Now this seems all fine and dandy, but the two clerks who were there the second time were different, and quite poor at customer service. One clerk was helping a customer, whereas the other clerk couldn't help me because, "he was on lunch." I waited patiently for the other clerk to finish, and he said that he couldn't help me because he ahd to re-package a bunch of X-Box games. Finally after 20 minutes, said clerk finally took out the Dreamcast games for me to have a look. The topper: When I asked for a bag, it was literally tossed at me, and the, "on lunch," clerk scoffed and walked away. Great selection, lots of different consoles/peripherals, good location. But customer service sucks and a half. If you are a classic gamer, deal with the guys, but if you're looking for newer things, you'll be ok. I recommend this place. Was this review helpful? The people that work at Gamerama are not professional. They have no manners, and are NOT helpful. The store is crowded and cluttered, which makes it hard to find things. As far as pre-orders, they "promise" you that you will have it within a certain time frame. I sold all of my past systems and got store credit for them. Then I was put on a waiting list for a Nintendo WII. I was promised one before the new year. I have called dozens of times, and each person on the phone was rude and didnt try to help. When I asked for the owner/manager, I am brushed off or have even been hung up on which is unacceptable! It is now April and I have heard nothing! I also ask for other products and I am always told that they arent available. I got a WII off Ebay and am happy. On the other hand, I am stuck with store credit to the worst Gaming store in the city. Stay away from this one.

Attitude. That pretty much sums up my experience with Gamerama. Allow me to explain. While in the neighbourhood I decided to drop by and check out what they had in stock. As I look around I spot Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for Dreamcast 'on display' and so I check it out. Turns out it's not for sale due to not working properly. I come back another time and decide to barter the clerk into selling me it fully aware they state it's not working. The next time go there it's gone from the display and the clerk tells me to call back another time when it might be found. So I call back a couple times and most recently I spoke with a clerk who presumably dealt with me before and was pretty hostile with me. I just wanted a simple explanation for 'why' it was being sold when it was 'on display' in the first place. Not a big deal, but apparently the guy I spoke to felt differently. I was very civil and just curious yet the clerk gives me the fifth degree and explains "I don't need to give you a reason", I might add with attitude. Oh well. Much like most of Toronto's private game shops this one doesn't offer a very good stock for the pricing as most retro-ware can be gotten on eBay for fractions of the cost (even with shipping). For friendlier service and better overall pricing check out Game Centre instead.

In regards to David's post. The reason why you cannot get a refund on the game is because it is a PC game. Some people tend to Install a game on their computer than without un-installing it, they will return to the store to get money or even a store credit. Thus being able to play the game still without the disc and make money back from it, that is why you could not return it. My review This store is a good store it has a wide selection of Games old, older, oldest and New. Although while i was searching around prices i found that some of their games are a tad over-priced nothing to drastic, the most over-priced item i seen was $10 over nothing major. If you are looking for certain games and you don't seem them on the front line look behind those games that you see, there are more. I recommend this place. Was this review helpful? I would strongly recommend not buy any new PC Games from this store. They are overpriced and having been a customer of this store for a long period of time I was told that I would not be given a refund or store credit after purchasing a new PC game and returning with it the next. The game is Scarface which was $58.99 with five dollars of for Boxing Day. It bought it because I received a $50 gift certificate for this store and they had nothing that specifically interested me. The game was the worst produced first person I had seen for a recent game (Poor Graphics and lousy control interfaceâ€. I felt comfortable buying it because I was sure that they would at least give me store credit if I didn’t like it. Not so. A minimum requirement for me to shop anywhere is a consumer friendly return policy. NO THANKS GAMERAMA. I do not recommend this place. Was this review helpful? Yes | No | Report as Spam |

I believe that yes, Gamerama is most likely Toronto's best videogame shop. They stock just as many videogames (including new releases and older titles) as any EB games in the city. As if this were not enough Gamerama also stocks many older, rarer games for a very wide variety of outdated consoles, these games are near impossible to find elsewhere. The employees are very helpful, and in my opinion much better at what they do, and a lot more..eeer..patient than those at other videogame shops. If you are also a Warhammer fan then this place certainly hits the ticket, because, knowing how expensive this stuff is, they have chipped a bit off the price. As well, if your looking for a certain model and they don't have it, they will order it for you in the next shipment. Gamerama does stock White Dwarf magazine and since the Warhammer portion of the store is little known, new codexes that are sold out at Games Workshop will most likely appear in bulk at Gamerama. I would Definitely recommend Gamerama to a friend, and have done so in the past. So in conclusion, if you need something in the way of videogames or Warhammer, don't miss Gamerama, it's one of Toronto's best kept secrets. I recommend this place. Was this review helpful?
