DescriptionMore like a giant scrapyard for techies, artists, and DIY'ers than an actual electronic superstore, this has to be one of the more interesting clearance outlets - of any sort - in Toronto. Kinda like Honest Ed's on crack. Giant disco balls, used metal flaps (sold by the pound), various robots, spray paint for road signage, out-door all-weather speakers, (creepy) doll body parts were just some of the items available for purchase on a recent visit. The staff are....focussed.

I have been dealing with Active for several decades. Not a joke. If I need electronics or non electronics like motors and gadgets I drive from near Kingston to check Active first.
I believe the store started on Yonge near Wellesley so many years ago.
Never a bad sale or purchase!

I recommend this place.

Active Surplus is better than a candy store. It's the cheapest place to buy a lot of equipment--phones, answering machines, keyboards and mice--and has the widest selection of computer and audio cables, again at the best prices.

But it's much more than that. Art supplies, tools and fascinating ephemera... Electrical components, fog machines... the list goes on. Plan on spending a few dollars.

I recommend this place.
