The Shoe Company is a division of Town Shoes Limited, a privately owned Canadian company. Over 50 years ago on May 15, 1952, Leonard Simpson opened the first Town Shoes store in Sunnybrook Plaza (Toronto). Over the ensuing years Town Shoes, known for its womanˇ¦s fashion forward styles and great service, expanded to 18 stores necessitating the need for a clearance outlet. This clearance outlet, which opened in 1992, took on a life of its own and became the first The Shoe Company store.
