2 out of 2 people found this review helpful. to reinforce the point that has been consistent throughout this review thread, "upcountry is a horrible retail outlet". My husband and I have been calling and visiting each location to learn about the true status of our family room furniture. I was in the King St store on Tuesday and NO ONE gave me a clue that they might be going bankrupt the next day!!! I would've just taken what I could to ensure that I didn't lose my deposit made Feb 2007..in hind sight, that was too long a wait.

My husband and I were directed to go to Choice Leather Furniture...before we started again, I had to do my proper due diligence...

CHOICE LEATHER FURNITURE is the ONLY furniture store without a strike from the BBB, or any other posted forum. Just to let you know, they are a healthy store of 25 years. My husband and I dropped by and found the PERFECT sofa...it was the one we chose from upcountry...AND Choice will deliver it on the coming Wednesday..

I'm not here to solicite any store, especially after this horrid experience with Upcountry (who supposedly has a great reputation). BUT I've learned to do my due diligence before I waste any more of my time...for those who might want some recommendation from a fellow Upcountry X-customer, I've done my research and if you are looking for leather furniture, they have it...you won't believe the customization capability.

Simply said, everyone has to get their money back as soon as possible!!!

I do not recommend this place.

2 out of 2 people found this review helpful. My husabnd & I purchased about $13,000 worth of furniture at UpCountry Vaughan Mills. We made half the purchase in July 2007, then went back in August to purchase our sofa. We did not need our furniture till Septemebr 2007 so I wasn't worried about the 6-8 weeks wait period.

When the beginning of Septemebr rolled around, I contacted UpCounrty to schedule my delivery...this is when I knew I was going to have issues! I started getting excuses for my funiture not being in stock yet. When did you order it, do you have invoice numbers, who was your sales rep, I'll call you back tomorrow. I think my issues started at the right time though. As my patience started to run thin with the fact that no furniture was being delivered, no one EVER answered the phone at Vaughan Mills and no one EVER called you back, a woman named DEE called me. She was the new manager for Upcountry Vaughan Mills and she promised to take care of my issues. Within 2 weeks, I had my bedroom & Office furntire at my house. My headboard was damaged and she made sure it got repaired.

When I wasn't getting my kitchen table and sofa, I know there was something up! I called Dee and she let me know that there were big problems witht he finances and she would give me what ever I wanted off the floor to make sure I did not get screwed.

UpCountry is the worst company I have ever dealt with but Dee was absolute angel.

I do not recommend this place.

Don't fool yourself wishing it won't happen to you. Don't pray that maybe your experience might be different. YOU WILL GET SCREWED!
From what I can tell UpCountry is run by a bunch of monkeys. These monkeys have hired a group of trendy looking men and women to set up a nice looking store, to act as salespeople and then take your money. Here's how it works.
1 they pump up their wares and make you believe you are getting a good deal.
2 they take your money and literally throw your order into the trash
3 they do not order your furniture
4 they do not know what happened to your order
5 they ask you to wait 6-8 weeks even though they know you will not get it any time soon
6 they will get annoyed at you for bothering them about your order
7 they ask you to wait 6-8 weeks even though they know you will not get it any time soon
8 they ask you to wait 6-8 weeks even though they know you will not get it any time soon
9 they thank you for your patience
10 they ask you to wait 6-8 weeks even though they know you will not get it any time soon

If you made the mistake of buying from upcountry before reading this review don't despair...it's not too late. Call your credit card company (hopefully you didn't pay cash), explain the situation, you will get your deposit back. UpCountry will not dispute your credit card company's investigation. Buy your furniture somewhere else and thank upcountry for making you a more careful and weary consumer.
