0 out of 1 people found this review helpful. Lately, I think the prices of perishables have become slightly more competitive and if you ask the staff to bring out fresher stock, they will do it. But I still find this store oddly arranged/ organized - not intuitive with similar items like cheese/dairy in separate, faraway bins when they should be together... this is the fault of lazy, bad managers -- I don't tend to blame staff -- they take their cue from supervisors and managers.

Yes, I shop there only for convenience. The competing Rabba on Charles West at street level is open 24 hours -- it is a filthy store and I try not to go there, either except when I absolutely have to.

I do not recommend this place.

4 out of 9 people found this review helpful. I have been shopping at the Valu Mart in the Manulife Centre for 14 years and I only keep going back because it is convenient. This is also the opinion of several of my neigbours. When I can I shop elsewhere. The produce has improved over the years and that is why I decided to give it another try. As a recently retired person living nearby, I depend on stores within walking distance of my home, So again it is convenience that keeps me shopping at this store. Over the years I have not noticed any discernable improvement in the mediocre service in this store. Some of the long term employees now at least recognize me and even say hello. I would especially like to mention Greg who works on the cash and ALWAYS says hello and asks how how I am. However, today when I was at the checkout the young man who was at the cash did not look at me once, nor speak to me to say please or thank you. To add insult to injury when I said it was a debit purchase he just pointed at the machine and when my transaction was completed he practically threw my receipt at me. I was so angry I tried to find the store manager who, was no where to be seen. Am I sensitive? Should I have at least expected that he acknowledge me as a customer? What is the extent of the customer service training new employees receive? I am voicing my frustration that so that future incidents will not occur.
I do not recommend this place.
