Sneaky Dee's is a pretty great place to catch a local band, have a few drinks and a bite to eat. The atmosphere is cozy, if a bit dingy, and the food portions are beyond generous. (I recommend any of the nacho options.) The neat thing about this place is that, while it's definitely a cool place to hang out, you don't have to be part of the "cool crowd" to feel comfortable going there. (Trust me, you see all kinds at Sneaky Dee's) The staff/service are adequate, if a little disinterested. I recommend this place. Was this review helpful? Yes | No | Report as Spam |

Massey Hall is a fantastic venue for all kinds of music, it's probably the best smaller hall in all of Toronto. The acoustics are terrific, the seating is comfortable and the venue has a lot of charm. I've seen concerts from a wide assortment of artists here, they all sounded great, and no matter where I was seated, the view was excellent. I recommend this place. Was this review helpful? The Toronto Beaches area is an absolutely wonderful place to visit. Beautiful scenery and view, nice parks, great shopping with a wide assortment of interesting shops and boutiques, and nice architecture of both commercial buildings and residences.

I've seen many concerts here, and for a sports arena, the acoustics aren't terrible. Excellent seating plan and easy to navigate.

This isn't a review of the college or its programs, as I haven't attended any, but just of the building itself. I recommend visiting it because it was the set of the insanely popular Degrassi High television series of the 80s. You'll have a lot of fun exploring the building, as memories of Joey Jeremiah at his locker come flooding back.

No trip to Toronto is complete without a visit to the Toronto Eaton Centre. You'll find just about every chain store you can think of here, and if not, there's probably one within walking distance. Architectually beautiful as well.

Mr. Cheapies is about as cool as its name suggests. Inside, you'll find, well, cheap crap. But it's interesting cheap crap. Some real unusual merchandise here, everything from knock-off Hello Kitty backpacks to playing cards festooned with 40s-era Santa Clauses. Always great for that special gag gift, and the staff are friendly enough.

A better-than-average pizza place. Good for grabbing a snack (I recommend the stromboli sandwiches) on your way to the bus terminal.

Future Shop - |

It seems like a given that the Future Shop at Yonge & Dundas, similar to its record store neighbours, would have a great selection and be considered the flagship store of the chain. However, that is certainly not the case. Selection is very limited, and this store does not carry CDs and DVDs like its suburban sisters. This location is cramped, messy, dark and unwelcoming, with security swarming the place. As well, you can barely walk two steps without being confronted by a pushy salesperson, and the building is so crowded all one wants to do is immediately get the heck out. I only recommend this place if you need, say, a USB cable in a hurry and you're in the neighbourhood. (However, there are several other choices for even that in the store's vicinity) Unfortunately, if you want to visit a nice Future Shop, you'll have to go to the big-box stores in the suburbs.

The huge HMV store at Yonge & Dundas carries a giant selection of CDs & DVDs, although rare and unusual stuff is hard to find. Stock is updated frequently, everything always seems up-to-the-minute in this store. They also have a nice selection of brand-new LPs for vinyl afficianados. Staff are a bit aloof and "cooler-than-thou," but no huge complaints in the service department. Be forewarned, however, this store is ALWAYS busy.

Sam's is a great place to find rare CDs and the like if you don't have time to scour through the racks at the indie stores. Even though the selection is not as expansive as neighbour HMV, it definitely has more of the rare and unusual stuff. Service is friendly and helpful for the most part.

World Of Posters - |

World Of Posters is not your typical Yonge Street head shop, although it definitely fits into that category in some respects. This store has the biggest selection of posters I've seen anywhere, you can find several popular variations on the "Tupac and Smoke" theme, right down to the most obscure 90's Britpop band you could think of. The staff are very friendly and help you locate the poster you're looking for with ease.

World's Biggest Bookstore - |

The World's Biggest Bookstore (a claim that apparently is true when certain factors are considered, so it's not just hyperbole) is awesome. It has the biggest selection of books in all of Toronto, and from what I've seen the largest selection of magazines as well. The employees are friendly and helpful, and even though it seems they're somewhat limited in numbers, this store is so easy to navigate help is almost never needed. There's also a cool clearance section upstairs that's worth checking out for dirt-cheap giftware you'd pay through the nose for at Chapters and its ilk. Another of this store's claims to fame is that it was prominently featured in an episode of TLC's "What Not To Wear."

BMV Books - |

As far as book selection goes, this is the better of the two BMV locations. However, I still prefer the Edward Street store because of its additional merchandise (More magazines, dvds, videos) and better service. I find the employees in the Yonge/Eglinton location tend to be much less friendly and helpful, and the environment is more cramped and darkened. Still, it's definitely worth checking out.

BMV Books, Videos & DVDs - |

I LOVE BMV. At either this or the Yonge & Eglinton location, you can choose from a wide selection of books at over half the price of the big box stores (Chapters, etc.). A lot of the selection is books that are gently used, and others are factory ends (or what have you) that are near indistinguishable from new books. Edward Street also has a gigantic selection of old magazines, as well as a newer DVD & video selection (Check behind the counter for even more really cool- and cheap! DVDs.)
