I have been going to the Faema restaurant since it opened many years ago. I have never been disappointed with the food. I agree with Vickiso's comments.

I am addicted to their cheese danishes, the best Jewish/Eastern European bakery in downtown Toronto.

My wife and I both got veal sandwiches which had green and black mould on/in them. Unfortunately, for me, I had already taken a bite but was, fortunately, able to stop my wife from doing the same. I took one of the sandwiches away and submitted it to the Toronto health department for testing. They sent me their report which confirmed that more than one type of mould was growing in the sandwich. Luckily for me, I didn't get sick from that sandwich but, every time I pass by that restaurant/cafe, my stomach turns.

I have been ordering from Ciccio's for many years. I love their chicken-pesto pizza, which has a good quantity of ingredients (not skimpy) and order extras on it such as; black olives, fresh garlic, and green peppers. I usually order the extra-large which is rectangular. They give a discount for large ($1.) and extra-large ($1.50) but there's also a delivery surcharge ($1.50) which isn't charged if you pick it up at the restaurant. Very occassionally, they screw up (too greasy) but, if you phone them right away, they do offer to bring another pizza or give a discount on your next order. I recommend this place. I have been there for dinner twice. Wine list has virtually no reasonably priced wines, especially reds, under $55 per bottle. The first time I went there, I complained to the server about the lack of reasonably priced wines but, since the first dinner I had was very good, I went again, although I knew the wine was overpriced. The second dinner was a disaster. My beef tenderloin (which I had also had for my previous dinner) came cinderized with the grill's cross-hatch pattern on both sides which made it inedible until I cut it off which substantially reduced the size of my meal. Unless the meal is inedible, I don't send it back because of the potential for the chef or other staff to do nasty things to the replacement. When I discussed the cinderized meat problem with the server, he discounted and trivialized my concern. When I discussed this with the restaurant owner, she whined about her own problems. I raised the unreasonable wine list prices again and she argued that it wasn't possible for her to put any cheaper priced wines on the list. I told her about another restaurant in Yorkville, owned by a renowned Toronto chef, where there are more reasonably priced wines which she scoffed at, stating that, at that restaurant, there probably weren't any table cloths (there are). There's a lot more to this experience, and I could continue, but I think you get the message, don't go there! I do not recommend this place. Was this review helpful? Yes | No | Report as Spam |
