Fresh On Bloor - March 20, 2006
5 out of 7 people found this review helpful. My brother & I went to Fresh on Bloor this afternoon for lunch and we found the place to be a refreshing change from everyday cuisine. Their goal is to serve nutritious food and to make it quick! The first thing that struck me when I opened the menu was the abundance of variety. The choices are plentiful and sometimes you feel like ordering one of each dish. Once you're done ordering the food, you glance at the drinks menu and that's another decision demon. There are immune elixirs, energy elixirs, smoothies, frappes, protein shakes and the list goes on and on. We ordered the 'buddha on basmati rice' and a 'black bean burrito'. The 'buddha' dish was a mixture of spicy thai peanut sauce served with marinated tofu, tomato, cucumber, bean sprouts, cilantro, herbs and spices over rice. The burrito had a spicy bean filling with cilantro, avocado, tofu sour cream, tomato, lettuce, cucumber, red onion and alfalfa sprouts in a whole wheat tortilla. For $8, this burrito was monster-sized! The 'buddha' was about $9 and it also came in a lunch sized portion for $6. The portions are generous and you can taste the freshness of the food. I also indulged in a mango ginger lassi - yummy, but a bit pricey at $6 for a 16 oz. glass. Service was very prompt and the ambience was nice. I assume they do get crowded during lunch time and dinner but do take a look at their website and check out the place. They have three locations. It's definitely worth a visit! It's been 5 hours since I lunched there and I'm still stuffed!!
I recommend this place.
