Saigon Palace Restaurant - September 27, 2008
2 out of 3 people found this review helpful. Although, I like the pork noodle soup here, but I always have to run to the bathroom after my meals! They are using a ton of MSG in their foods. I had made a request to not adding any MSG in my dish, but the owner told me they use them in everything. So if you are one of those people who has no problem with MSG then I guess you would be OK, but if you concern about this toxic they put in the foods, then stay clear from this place.
I do not recommend this place.

Green Mango Thai Food - September 26, 2008
2 out of 4 people found this review helpful. This is not the place you would go for real Thai foods. Green Mango has been giving a "bad rep for Thai cuisine" by using their own creation of mixing curry paste and meat. Pad Thai is made of rice noodle and ketchup. Don't tell anyone that you love Thai foods, when you have meals here. It isn't Thai foods you just had!
I do not recommend this place.

Lee Garden Restaurant - September 25, 2008
3 out of 4 people found this review helpful. I had visited Lee Garden a few times and have never been impressed with the quality of foods and services. The foods are mediocre and mostly greasy (I know it's Cantonese, but you don't have to overdone it with excessive oil). As for the service, I was there once with a group of friends. We are younger crowd, but we also expect a better service like others.
I do not recommend this place.

Swatow Restaurant - September 19, 2008
3 out of 5 people found this review helpful. Life is not civilized here at Sawtow. If you know what I mean. This used to be an okay place to have noodle soup. They rush you to finish your meal by putting the check down and send you out of the door as quick as possible. Terrible! terrible! service. Will not return.
I do not recommend this place.

Salad King & Linda Restaurant - September 19, 2008
5 out of 7 people found this review helpful. Salad King is one of those "knockoff" Thai restaurants and has been fooling Torontonians for ages (as well as Spring Rolls and many others in the city). Most of the stir-fired dishes use the same ingredients with different kind of meat and sauces. There is no single authentic Thai cuisine on the menu. The main floor is always crowded with food court feels and tacky decor. The staff seems to try to rush you in and out just like some restaurants in Chinatown.
I do not recommend this place.

Spring Rolls by St Lawrence Market - September 19, 2008
3 out of 4 people found this review helpful. The concept of Pan-Asian always sounds and tastes wired to me, since none of the dishes in the menu are far from being authentic ( with a few exception of Vietnamese, but then again you can find better Vietnamese elsewhere). The entire chains is over-rated. They use a lot MSG in their foods. The worst one are the Thai dishes. Their Pad Thai is the most creepy one using ketchup!!! People think that by adding the word "Thai" into the menu, you would have Thai dishes. It's a joke.
I do not recommend this place.

HMV Superstore - September 19, 2008
1 out of 2 people found this review helpful. To be fair this location has a good selection of CD and DVD, although I had some bad experience when it comes to their special order service. I had waited for a box set I put on a special order though Universal Special Import channel and it took me almost a year to find out that it was discontinued. I also don’t like the way they display their CD/DVD on the third floor and let the Sun bakes the products everyday. It is so thoughtless.
I recommend this place.

Thai Basil - September 16, 2008
2 out of 3 people found this review helpful. This used to be one of my Thai favourite Thai restaurants when they first opened a few years ago. with authentic and no-so authentic dishes. Papaya Salad is authentic, but Pad Thai is not. The lunch special is a good deal for your money. Last night, I was there and had a full course dinner. The quality of foods seemed to change. The worst thing was, they are now added a lot of MSG in the foods (they told me they didn't before). It must be in the Chicken coconut soup. It was so bad and made my entire mouth numbed even before I finished the main course! I will give a second thought before returning.
I do not recommend this place.

Daniel et Daniel Event Creation of Catering - September 13, 2007
1 out of 3 people found this review helpful. I often pick up a light lunch from this place. They have three or four different kinds of sandwiches and kept them in the fridge. Friendly staff, their coffee is also great. A small coffee plus a small sandwich cost less than four bucks. Their almond croissant is also tasty even I don't like the sticky syrup topping on top that much, still I like the crispy, crusty outside and chewy dough inside.
I recommend this place.

Sunglow Bakery & Delicatessen - July 16, 2007
13 out of 15 people found this review helpful. I used to live in the neigbourhood for more than ten years and had bought some bakery from this place. Last Friday, I went there and bought some cookies since I thought they used to be quite okay. The girl who served me was rude, unfriendly and could not understand my simple request (i.e mixed different kind of cookies into one small plastic bag, instead of a brown bag she was doing). When I told her, apparently it created somekind of confusion for her, she put them in a paper box! which is fine by me at that point. Then I asked her for a bag, so that I can carry to the subway. To my surprise, she pointed me a sign in front of her cash register and said that there is a five cents charge for a plastic bag! An old lady who was standing nearby snapped back to the girl that "Nobody charges for a bag". I don't know if I should laugh at this point or tell her that I am no longer want to buy the cookies from her. The worst thing is the quality of their cookies were not that good as it used to be (and they are still expensive like before). So last Friday was the last time I was at this store and won't be back again.
I do not recommend this place.
