6 out of 6 people found this review helpful. I had a bad experience with 4 U Furniture and will neither return there, nor recommend it to anyone else.

After a long search we finally found an extendable glass top table. The salesperson, Marely Gow repeated several times that the table we were looking at came in a smaller size 35" by 35" which was exactly the size we needed. We still had to pay the same price as for the 35" by 52" table, because apparently the smaller size was not on sale. The table had to be paid in full before they would order it, but we were reassured that they would call us in 4 weeks when the table was ready for pick up.

After 4 weeks past by, I called the store to inquire about my order. The person who answered could not tell me anything but said that she would find out the details and call back. Two days passed by without any news from the store. We decided to go directly and discovered that they had ordered instead the larger table that was on their display (35" by 52"). The salesperson tried to tell us that this particular table came only in the dispayed size and tried to sell us other of their tables. As we did not like the other tables we requested refund and the problems began.

We were told that because I paid by Debit Card they could not refund me. Their accountant was going to write me a cheque. I asked if I could have the money refunded on my credit card, but apparently neither the salesperson nor the manager had an access card to authorize the refund on my credit card.

Two weeks passed by and their accountant did not make it to the store and did not write the cheque. I called several times to inquire,every time the salesperson Marely Gow took my telephone number and reassured me that she will follow up and call me back to let me know when I could pick up the cheque. I never received a call back from her and had to go back to the store. When I asked to speak to the owner Henry Boukema, I was told that he was in China. I went 3 more times to the store without any success in obtaining my refund.

Upon examination of my receipt and invoice, I noticed that the invoice was from 4 U Furniture, but the debit card transaction receipt was from Boukema's Bath and Bedding.

I continued to call the store. Finally, Marely Gow told me that she would transfer the money to my Credit Card and the transaction was going to take about 3 to 4 business days. The stated time passed by and there was still no refund. The credit card company told me that if I had paid by credit card they could launch an investigation.

I went again to 4 U Furniture and this time told them that for every day delay in receiving my refund, I would spend one hour informing the public of my experience with them. They told me that the transaction was already done, but they could not provide me with any transaction number or record. Two days later they called me and gave me the transaction number for the refund and 3 days later the refund finally appeared on my credit card.

In summary, when things go wrong be prepared for exceptionally poor service.

I do not recommend this place.
