Taylor's Outdoor Gear - March 25, 2008
0 out of 1 people found this review helpful. They have less stuff now that they've moved to a smaller space, but they still carry good quality gear. The staff is knowledgeable and was able to answer my questions in-depth. It has a "neighborhood" store feeling to it because they actually remember who I am! (OK, I did spend some time shopping and chatting with the staff there.)
I recommend this place.

When returning stuff, there's very little hassle. My boyfriend got a store credit on a 3-year old backpack due to a defect that lead to its demise.

The store does have climbing wall to properly test any climbing gear, or free-weights to test out a backpack you're fitting. Note that it does get busy during the peak times, so it's best to go off-peak if you have a lot of questions or need to do fittings or need extra time with any staff member.

I recommend this place.

Marathon Sports Limited - March 25, 2008
0 out of 1 people found this review helpful. Bought a pair of Lowa boots at the store to go trekking in Laos. The service at the store was good before purchase, but poor for their after purchase.

Though the boots were comfortable, one of the lace eyelets ripped from the leather while lacing them up and the other was beginning to go. The boots were approximately 2-3 weeks old then and hardly worn. We took them back to the store after returning from our trip, 2 months after purchase to have them fixed under warranty. Kathy, who was handling the warranties, would not honour the warranty and claimed that the boots suffered wear & tear and were abused, even though they were not and especially given the time frame we had them, and because it was 0.5 size too large, it was therefore deemed improper fit and therefore had voided the warranty. It was pointed out to the sales rep before purchase that they were a bit too big but they did not have the right size in the store before we had to leave for the trip. We went ahead with the purchase but were not warned about voiding the warranty. They end up countering that with "buyer beware." Our follow-up phone calls after dropping the boots off were not pleasant as she raised her voice unnecessarily, avoided giving us information regarding warranty after she said it was available on a website, and hung up on us.

It seems like a good store in respect to the pre-sale support but poor on the post-sale support. Will not be returning or recommending this store to others. So "buyer beware" to all of you.

I do not recommend this place.
