The owners (I think) are this pleasant couple and they bring a nice family feel to the place. A cool place for a date or just to hang out. I recommend this place. Was this review helpful? The menu is pretty much standard Italian food. Portions are good and the dishes taste great. They have a really cool patio out front which is awesome in warm weather. I recommend this place. There are no tables, just benches and you will find yourself sitting next to several strangers. So it's not such a good "intimate dining" place. The wait staff was pretty polite and they were kind-of hurrying a bit but summerlicious is always like that. The food was good and while the portions were not very large, they were well sized. Don't bother paying cover on Friday/Sat. - kind of weird cuz it's the same as Wednesday and it's still usually quiet. For your first time, it might be best to order the "sampler". It comes with a small amount of all items. There is a vegetarian available as well. The restaurant is small but has two floors. You may wait for a while before a table. The service was quite slow. We waited for over 30 minutes for the food to arrive. There was only one waitress available and the place was fairly busy so no props on the slow service. Don't go hungry - get there before you feel hungry! I recommend this place. No credit, no debit. It's a bit inconvenient. Their menu is quite varied with some options for vegetarians. The decor and lighting are simple and attractive. Basically, it's a self-serve place. Place your order, they cook, and call you to get it when it's ready. Avoids serving staff. Another patron in the restaurant today had a problem with his meal and the girl working there was quite rude to him while addressing his legitimate complaint. The menu and wine list are well rounded. It can be a bit cramped at times but besides that, it's excellent. There's also Club Menage upstairs with a patio for after dinner drinks or partying. Down One has several couches and chairs, a big screen TV and a live DJ. The music is as varied as the clientele - hip hop, house, dance. The pizzas are obviously the highlight here. Tasty, fresh, filling. They offer a variety of unique pizzas. It's a must-try if you are a gluten allergy sufferer. I recommend this place. Maddy's is a massive house that has been converted into an even bigger bar. There are 3 or 4 levels including patios. Multiple bars are located throughout the establishment and all can get busy. A mid 20s crowd - some of them took the hip hop culture very seriously but everyone was having fun. It's small but it wasn't packed or busy. Comfortable. Drinks were $4.50. They have a nice decor with white leather chairs and couches. The booths are comfy. The DJ was playing lots of hip hop and switched to some reggae after last call. I recommend this place. The food could have been a lot better - not much flavour and relatively small portions. A "big box" pasta place that charges as much as the smaller, specialty restaurants. A small place - it can get really crowded during concerts and their club nights but no one's complaining. The crowd is genuine and knows how to party. Don't bother showing up if you're pretentious, superficial and "trendy". The crowd here loves to let loose and enjoy. Their focus is Brit-Pop. They always have a couple of new releases and a few older flicks just in case you missed them when they came out. There's a nice piano in the lobby that anyone can play. It took us about 20 mins to be served a pitcher of beer and glass of wine. Same for the 2nd round. The place has a bit of a cramped feel but you can get a table if you're lucky. Food looked good. The crowd is people in their late 20s to early 30s. Some were quite dressed up and others were more relaxed. Somewhat pricey overall but you're probably paying for the atmosphere as well. The crowd seems a bit pretentious - definitely don't wear jeans and sneakers. All the guys had faux-hawks and collared shirts. Some fake tans too! It was busy and seemed very exciting. 	1 out of 1 people found this review helpful. Inside on Fridays is packed to the brim. We got there around 11:30 - we were on the guestlist and cover is $5 with guestlist before 11:30. So no luck for us. After waiting for about one hour - yes, one hour - in the guestlist line, we finally got in. Cover was now an astounding $15. Talk to the bouncer - he let a couple of us in for $10 each. The coat check and washrooms are in the same area so it's extremely cramped; to the point of being a fire hazard. $3 for coat check. Music on all 3 floors was soca, reggae, hip-hop. Each floor was very busy - not much room at all. The crowd is late teens, early 20s and generally pretty varied. Inside plays good music and has lots of attractive people but be prepared to wait in line, spend lots of money on non-alcoholic related stuff, and be cramped wherever you go. There are several clippings of awards won - with good reason. All elements combined for a great visit. Daniel, who was working there during our visit, was very patient and helpful. The pizza tasted great - warmed up just right in the oven. The highlight was dessert. We tried the Ambrosia pie (Apple, Berry and Peach) - delectable. Not too sweet and you can really taste the fruit. The next pie we had was the Peach and Praline - recommended by Daniel. Sweet and luscious. The server was very helpful and patient. She made good recommendations when asked for suggestions. The food was good but lacked intensity. It could have been a bit more flavourful - the jalapenos were not very powerful in particular. For the price paid, the portions could have been somewhat bigger.
